The people believe in the spirits of the island, which is also where their energy came from. After the renaissance period, the elderly were very lucky to be brought by the sea to this island. With the power of the spirits, Denatuur became a civilized country and the spirits became part of a asleep volcano behind the Mayreya fortress. From that day onward, the volcano started to flow out vast amount of spring water, nourishing every living thing on the island.
The people are very careful and serious when it comes to fire to protect the forest. Fire are like demons to them, it is off limits to people underage. There was once a forest fire caused by some careless teenagers. In return the east side of the island is completely burned to the ground and today not a living thing grows on the land. The locals see the east side as a sacred place, besides funerals and rituals, people normally wouldn't go there.They may live a simple life but it is a life rich in culture, art and full of soul.
